Dear artists , art friends and art lovers.
We would love to introduce you our new art magazine.
In our Marion county area, we have many artists, many art groups, many galleries, and many art schools, with various courses, but still it looks like nothing is happening here. Of course this is neither the truth or accurate. It just looks like it on the surface to some people. Through our magazine, our mission is bring you closer to art and the cultural movement of our area. We are going to introduce you to various artists, different art techniques - all in our online magazine. You will find art critiques and interviews with fellow artists. We will inform you on the latest art exhibitions, art classes and more. We hope you will find our experiment interesting and maybe you will be actively interacting with us. How? If you would like to have your art published, please send us a few pictures of your work. Do you know about an interesting venue or exhibition? Let us know and we can advertise it. This area has many artists, and we want our work to be seen and appreciated. We should work together to create a valuable art community.

How to stretch your own canvas:
Many of us want to have different sizes or shapes of canvases in order to create any design or maybe to
adjust to a space in which we want to display our art. Unconventional canvas sizes can be more
expensive to buy or more difficult to find. For that particular reason I think it will be very useful to know
how to stretch canvas, very easy and for low cost:
You will need:
-A length of canvas unprimed or primed; you can buy this material in the art store, on-line or in the local
fabric store where you can ask for a heavy duty unbleached calico ( plain woven cotton, less coarse and
thicker that canvas and very cheap).
-Wood frame (DIY, as needed)
-Staple gun + staples or carpet tacks and hammer
canvas pliers or extra help from somebody else
Steps:
-Roll out your canvas on a flat surface
-Put the frame on top of canvas
-Cut it to size (remember the canvas has to fold over the back of the frame). It is better to cut extra long
and trim it after.
-Attach the canvas starting working from the middle outward and opposite, cross (+) pattern, and then
the edges, X pattern. Staple the canvas to the back of the frame using 2 staples and about 2” apart.
Remember to continued with the opposite side every time. When staple the edge of the canvas (X
pattern) taught it as tight as you can and then staple, use pliers or extra help to get better results.
At the corners, you fold the canvas very neatly, staple the edges one on top of the other.
If the canvas doesn't get very tight, you have to unstapled and start again.

Webber center Gallery:
Ocala has very nice art gallery, which keeps its exhibition on higher standard. Last week I went to see exhibition"prints of landscapes "form permanent collection of Appleton museum.
By my judgment it was higher end event , but to my surprise I was only one visitor there. This was very surprising considering the quality of exponents and also there is no entrance fee what so ever . In Ocala we have many artists, many art students, either from the high school or from the college. But I was here alone. I was puzzled why nobody is coming to see beautiful prints of landscapes done by artist from USA, England, Israel and Hungry .
Also I was little bit disappointed that in the catalog I did not find any information about artists and their works.
I have found at least a few information about artists on the internet and I would like to share those findings with you.
One of the artist exhibiting there was Frances St. Clair Miller
she was born and educated in London, her teachers were well known graphic artists Antony Gross a Bartolomeu dos Santos. From them Miller learned her technical brilliance. Her primary interest had been mixing colors in printing techniques. Her themes are mostly landscape and scene from Herefordshire area with architectural subjects included.Miller believed that printing technique is way how to bring valuable art to general public awareness.
Another very interesting artist is Robert Lobe ,
Lobe was born in Michigan,he has received his education in Ohio .
His major point of interest is the exploration of relationship and conflict between nature and technology. Lobe's main interest is in creating sculptures.
In 1992 he created two lithographs Wood Walks and Tree Talk for New York publisher.
Appleton museum have those prints in its permanent collection .http://www.robertlobe.com/
Ruth Rodman
Rodman is contemporary sculptor and print maker from Boston. She is also experimenting with tapestries. Her specialty is deep printing. Rodman also created special large prints for Disney Corporation in California.
Among those artist mentioned above you could see art created by Julia Yarbonogh, Luise La Bria, Stephen Mc Millan and many more.
